Fire prevention Technical Description

The investors, operators and employees rightfully expect that the building, construction or space where they display their activities is suitable for the specific work and is also safe. It is a basic requirement for any building to resist the effects of fire for a certain period and to allow those staying inside to escape or be rescued in a safe way.

The National Fire Prevention Rules contains all requirements related to establishment and use the adherence to which allows safe operation of the facilities from fire prevention aspects. To make sure that the buildings are constructed in accordance with the fire prevention requirements the fire prevention technical design must be included in a technical description or documentation during the architectural and technical planning. Drawing of the fire prevention technical description or documentation is a special task to be performed by a properly qualified specialist.

The responsible designer must appoint a fire prevention expert or fire prevention designer to draw the fire prevention technical description. The obligation to draw the fire prevention technical description is provided in Regulation 28/2011 (6th September) BM on the National Fire Prevention Rules. Paragraph 288(1) provides: “During the architectural and technical planning of the buildings, the fire prevention technical design must be included in a fire prevention technical description or documentation. The fire prevention technical description or documentation must be part of all plans. Drawing of the fire prevention technical description or documentation is a special task to be performed by a properly qualified specialist.”

In accordance with the second half of Paragraph 288(1) of Regulation 28/2011 (6th September) BM on the National Fire Prevention Rules “The designer in charge must employ a fire prevention expert (expert in the fire prevention of buildings or architecture or electricity or machinery) or a fire prevention designer for the drawing of the fire prevention technical description. Assistance be a fire prevention expert in the special field is allowed during chemical, oil or gas industry planning. The expert, fire prevention designer must sign the fire prevention technical description and all architectural technical plan sheet.”
